Moskonstruct is focused on preserving Moscow’s Avant-garde architecture by sensitising residents, local and national administrations and public opinion to the importance of preserving and restoring this heritage. Site-specific art installations by a team of contemporary European and Russian artists draw inspiration from and reinterpret the work of the Avant-Garde, demonstrating the possibilities and values of their reappropriation and offering an unusual opportunity for the city of Moscow to explore its heritage.
The exhibition of site-specific artworks will take place in occasion of two days of symposiums, conferences and discussions on the future of Moscow’s architectural heritage and the presentation of the results of one year of student exchanges and workshops with local residents. The conferences and workshops will be held in the Zuev Club on October 8 and 9, 2009. The exhibition at the CCC Garage Center for Contemporary Culture opens on October 9, 2009 and will run until October 16, 2009.
Moskonstruct is sponsored by the European Commission and coordinated by the Dipartimento Interateneo Pianificazione Territoriale e Urbanistica, at the “Sapienza” University of Rome and the MARKHI - Moscow Architectural Institute.
